2014 Alessandria, Barolo, Monvigliero, DOCG
If you consider Barolo difficult, a hassle (maybe that’s why we drink so little vintage Port) or simply undrinkable until it’s of Medicare age, stick around.
We can give you the usual rundown for this 2014 Alessandria, Barolo, Monvigliero:
Family-owned for more than a century (it is), hillside-grown on the greatest vineyard in the area (arguably yes), old vines (check), award winner (yep, Wine and Spirits top 100 in 2017) and so on.
But that’s just talk.
The Alessandria Barolo Monvigliero is refined and somewhat restrained whilst retaining all of the lovely dry rose petal, leather and dried cherries of a classic.
It’s a traditional wine dressed in a pretty hip outfit.
You’ll find the tannins a bit more polished, the fruit a bit more forthcoming and the assurance that you can drink it and not put it in your will.
It’s lovely. Give it some air and enjoy it.
Sure, pair it with beef stew or a smoked meat platter. But this wine will go with a lot more.
Cin cin!
