The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Baudines has a curiously Meursault-like bouquet, thanks to a tincture of hazelnut and smoke that evolves with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity, lively and saline in the mouth with a twist of citrus lemon on the focused finish. I like the bitter edge here. This is a lovely Chassagne-Montrachet.
