The 1995 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a fleshy and (for Gouges) quite a corpulent bouquet with bergamot and crushed rose petals. This remains exuberant, especially juxtaposed against the 1996 Clos des Porrets. The palate is fleshy and rounded with plenty of dark berry fruit laced with brine and clove. There is impressive persistence to this Les Saint-Georges, one of the domains finest of the decade.
