The dark ruby/purple-colored 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape displays an impressive constitution, with full body, considerable structure, and admirable delineation. Spice box, vanillin, and black fruits show through, but the wine is big, backward, and needing 2-3 years of cellaring, somewhat atypical for a 1999.
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.
Possesses a slight roasted profile with a nutty, ripe nose of scorched earth, asphalt, dark fruit and spice notes. The palate is better with medium to full body, a ripe, mouth filling texture and a long finish.
