I have been arguing for some years now that Caillerets is the single best vineyard in Puligny and it's interesting that we're finally beginning to see enough different examples to create a greater awareness of just how fine the vineyard can be (it was essentially a monopole) until the early 1990s. Noticeable pain grillé undertones highlight expressive, wonderfully pure middle weight flavors that display nuances of fennel, citrus and a subtle ripe pear character and a sappy, palate staining finish of grand cru caliber persistence. A terrific wine that has it all, blending size, power, weight and elegance into a seamless whole. *Outstanding*
