TASTING NOTES

Could easily be confused with a big, full-throttle, Grenache-based Cotes du Rhone from Chateauneuf du Pape or Rasteau. A big, earthy, peppery, licorice, cherry liqueur, and spice-scented perfume soars from the glass of this deep ruby-colored, fleshy, fat offering. Sumptuous on the palate, with high levels of glycerin as well as a silky texture.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.

Deep red-ruby. Aromas of raspberry syrup, cracked pepper and fruit cake. Sweet, sappy and lush, offering lovely red fruit and spice flavors. A soft, approachable zinfandel that finishes with sweet tannins. Excellent value.

Stephen Tanzer, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar.

A bold, rich, concentrated style, jam-packed with dense, chewy plum, black cherry and wild berry flavors that are tightly wound and sharply focused. This massive youngster finishes with a push of fresh earth, spice, pencil lead and tar.

James Laube, Wine Spectator.
