Terms, Conditions, and Other Policies


In placing your order, you represent that you are at least 21 years old and that the person receiving delivery of this order is at least 21 years old.



All wines are sold in the County of San Mateo and title passes to the buyer in California. Sales tax will be charged on orders delivered in California and on orders shipped to states requiring that title to wine pass within California.



We inspect all wines and take the utmost care in the handling and proper storage. Unless otherwise noted in the “Imperfection” field describing the wine, all bottles on the site can be assumed to be in very good to excellent condition. We will provide information concerning the physical appearance of any bottle that is not normal for its age. We strive to ensure that all wine is of sound condition and is shipped in such a way that this condition is maintained. However, we are unable to accept responsibility for the state or condition of consignment wines, nor are we able to guarantee that the wine in the bottle corresponds to the quality or attributes which might be expected from its description. Older bottles from the same case may have significant bottle variation.



At WineBank, we want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchases.  We recognize that a corked or otherwise flawed bottle is inevitably encountered.  On these rare occasions, following inspection by a WineBank manager, with the exception of consignment wines, we may replace or issue a refund for the defective bottle.  Returns must be made WITHIN 90 DAYS of the purchase date and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.



All wines are shipped via FedEx and adhere to their policies for appropriate packing. Further, all wine is shipped with the full Declared Value of the purchased wine price. As we are not responsible for any damage during shipping, the buyer should be aware of the weather their shipment is likely to be subject to before requesting shipment of their wine.


Please note that FedEx’s Declared Value does not cover any loss or damage due to exposure to temperature variations, shipping delays, or defect in or failure of any cork or other bottle closure. If your shipment is delayed or arrives broken, please contact us to file a claim with FedEx. Wines spoiled by changes in temperature cannot be recovered. Please choose your shipping address carefully. We cannot replace wine damaged by heat or cold exposure.



Select “Store Pickup” at checkout. Upon receipt of your order, we'll send an email notification to the email address associated with your order when it is available for pickup. (Most items should be available for pickup within 24 hours after your order is placed.)


To pickup your order, see a staff member at the customer service desk. You must be 21 years of age to pick up an order. Proof of age will be required.


We will hold the order in our temperature-controlled storage facility at no additional cost for up to 90 days. If you would like to request an extension to pick up your order, please contact us to avoid cancellation, storage fees or a re-stocking fee.



These Terms and Conditions of Sale, as well as the rights and obligations of both buyer and seller hereunder, shall be governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of California. You consent to this exclusive jurisdiction with regard to any wine purchased from us. We shall not be liable for any failure to meet our obligations by circumstances beyond our control. In no event shall our liability ever exceed the purchase price actually paid for such wine.
